Ultrasound: Advanced, Noninvasive Pet Testing

At the Animal Hospital of the Rockaways, we use our in-house ultrasound, an advanced diagnostic imaging technique that is painless and noninvasive. During this kind of examination, sound waves are used to generate a computer image that helps us to evaluate the internal structure of organs and abnormal lesions.

Abdominal Ultrasound

In the abdomen, ultrasound is especially valuable for imaging:

Cardiac Ultrasound

Ultrasound of the heart is called ECHO or Echocardiogram and is very useful in assessing the heart muscle end valve function and chamber size. This allows specific diagnosis of a heart problem. Therefore it is crucial for treating and diagnosing specific heart diseases.

Ultrasound is a very useful tool for pregnancy evaluations. We also use ultrasound to guide us in diagnostic procedures such as urine collection and the biopsy of internal organs and tumors. Ultrasound often allows us to detect the spread of cancer, avoiding unnecessary surgery.
