Animal Hospital of the Rockaway's Dedicated Team
Our team of veterinary professionals is dedicated to delivering the best customer service and compassionate care to you and your pets.
Samantha McKay, LVT — Veterinary Technician
From day one, Samantha had an unexplained bond to animals; she would always find the smallest of the world’s creatures hurt and immediately take them home to make them better. In 2001, she began working at an animal hospital in the kennel and has worked her way up to veterinary technician, receiving a Veterinary Technician License from Suffolk County Community College.
Ten years later, Samantha went into shelter medicine working in an isolation department, which changed her life. Dealing with endless emergencies and still being able to make homeless animals feel loved day in and day out was special to her. Caring for parvo puppies during the hardest fight of their life has made her life more whole than she thought it could be until she had her daughter.
Brenda David, LVT — Veterinary Technician
Brenda is a licensed veterinary technician (LVT) at Animal Hospital of the Rockaways.
Michael Brown — Veterinary Assistant
Michael, also affectionately called "Big Mike," has been working at Animal Hospital of the Rockaways for 40 years. No one is better at handling cats, dogs, and birds. He is a true expert in the field of animal care. Michael is literally the epoxy that keeps the hospital together because he is also our "Mr. Fix-It."
Michael is an avid bicycle rider and handball player and during vacation time enjoys racing radio-controlled cars. "The Animal Hospital of the Rockaways is my home away from home."
Julie Kirkland — Veterinary Assistant
After a childhood in Music Education (University of Texas), contrabassist Julie Kirkland relocated to New York City finding an unexpected career spanning over a decade with Vornado Realty Trust, a leading commercial real estate investment firm. Seeing on multiple occasions just how precious life can be, Julie and her husband both departed from the corporate world, leaving Manhattan behind to pursue the field of animal care right here in their oceanic backyard of Rockaway, New York. Their hope is to share their newly enhanced quality of life with animals near and far as animals have played such an integral part of their most enjoyable aspects of life and deserve nothing but the best.
Julie is set to begin a veterinary technician program this year and cannot wait to delve deeper into the world of animal life.
Tyra Boisson — Veterinary Assistant
Tyra is a veterinary assistant at Animal Hospital of the Rockaways.
Jennifer Duffy — Licensed Professional Groomer
Jen graduated from the New York School of Dog Grooming and has been a licensed groomer for 20 years. She has worked with animals since she was in middle school. Jen has three larger than life, lovable dogs that often accompany her when greeting clients.
In her free time, Jen enjoys cooking, bike riding with her family, and most of all laughing. "It’s like one big happy family here at the Animal Hospital of the Rockaways, and I love it!"
Chastity Marin — Receptionist
Chastity is a receptionist at the Animal Hospital of the Rockaways. She has two cats that she loves so much named Casper and Zoe. Chastity has loved animals all her life and when she was younger she wanted to be a vet. Whenever any of her pets got sick, she would always try to help make them better and play doctor.
During her previous job as a waitress, a very nice couple complimented her on her phenomenal service and by the end of their date offered her a position at their veterinarian hospital. Chastity was really excited and nervous, but she was eager to start this new chapter in her life. Chastity loves animals and learning new things all the time. Every day comes with new challenges, but with every challenge is a lesson learned.
Noelle Clark — Receptionist
Noelle has loved animals for as long as she can remember and has always wanted to be in a position to help them. She is a proud pet parent to a 3-year-old frisky little feline named Alice.
Becoming a part of the Animal Hospital of the Rockaways team has been a really great experience for Noelle; not only does she get to be around loads of animals every day, but she is also in an environment that provides countless opportunities to learn. It brings her joy to be able to assist the veterinarians and, in turn, the animals that come in to the hospital for their care.
Catherine DiBattista — Receptionist
Cathy is a receptionist at Animal Hospital of the Rockaways.
Carrie Lester — Receptionist
Carrie is a member of our compassionate reception team here at the Animal Hospital of the Rockaways. She comes from a pet-loving family. Since she was a little girl, Carrie has lived in a home with multiple pets, from dogs and cats to bunnies to fish and even a couple of birds and a turtle. Now she is a loving mother of a poodle mix named Coco.
Carrie absolutely loves helping animals in need, and really enjoys learning more each day about the different species and breeds visiting us here at the animal hospital. She is delighted to have embarked on the opportunity to work with animals daily.
